Ladies with very long hair, I need your views on this one please!?

I've been thinking of cutting my hair to shoulder length..at present it is below my waist...I'm finding it very difficult to take the plunge and just do it....I had my mind half made up and then my daughter told me that I would regret it..I'm in two minds about it...it's not an issue of vanity..I think my long hair symbolises something spiritual to me..Hope I don't sound too crazy..I'm serious about this ..thanks.

I prefer mid length hair for comfort...and style, short hair for manageability.Long hair is actually absolutely beautiful.Men go crazy on long hair, its feminity.I feel we find only very few people with long hair, it takes years to grow them,and loads of effort to maintain it. i am sure many wud have complimented you and you might be making many heads turn .....I feel you should take the plunge only if you are having health problems....

Take my word, having long hair is an asset, don't lose it.

Trust me i understand the hair issue.....my mom wouldn't let me cut my hair til i was 13 i had long thick hair and i still do....so when i was able too i went for it lol......i think you should cut your hair and donate it too a charity that makes wigs for cancer patients (locks for love).....it will go to good use and you wont feel as bad afterward....hair will grow back, good luck

dont chop ur hair to shoulder length at one go ,chop it maybe 2 -3 inches of ,if u feel better go ahead , then probably u may not regret rather than chopping of at one stretch

The question is, what do YOU want to do? My hair is half way down my back and I love it. I have always loved it that way. When I was younger and had to have it cut because I had lice, I was very sad. I truly do love my hair. A lot of times I do wear it up, though but I would not cut it. I would feel lie I cut a large piece of who I am off. I am not telling you what to do. I don't think I should because I am not you. I am only telling you how I feel about it.

You should really be certain that having your hair at shoulder length is what you want before cutting it. I've had several friends that had waist length hair cut it short (above the shoulders) and regret it terribly afterwards. The trouble is that they have found that they can't get it to grow past their shoulders when they change their minds. So, take your time because not everyone can grow it back. I really hope that you're happy with whatever you decide.

I have done the same. I realized how much better that I would look and feel with it SHORT, and how much easier it would be to take care of. I was told that I looked 10 years younger after getting it cut. I am glad that I did!

you aren't crazy. hair means alot to who a woman is personally. try and cut it to armpit length instead. you will still have length, but it will be easier to manage. I did the shoulder length thing after having my hair to the middle of my back for a long time, and I did hate it. But remember it always grows back. If you do cut it, and your hair is healthy, donate it to Locks of Love. Someone will appreciate it. good luck with your decision.

u are not ready yet to get a haircut, but u are on your way. i had long hair just like u and i cut it - this happenend twice already, i'm close to do it for the 3rd time.

whatewher u do, take your time! do not let anyone to tell u what 's gotta be done, after all people around u are just admiring it, and u are to spend all those hours with hair-care .

when u are ready to let it go, u'll just know, but do't torture yourself like standing with the plunge in u hand... it's painful.

Sweetie, I TOTALLY understand this! My hair is also below my waist and it is also a spiritual thing with me. Although it is a pain in the a$$ to take care of, I will not cut it (except to trim off split ends). I love the way it looks and feels on my body. I don't really care what anyone else thinks, but I've never heard any complaints. Men seem to go crazy for it, but again, I don't do it for them...I do it for me :)

My advice: As long as you are of two minds about it, don't do it. When you are absolutely sure, then you can take the plunge ;)

If you have wanted to cut it for 6 months at least, then you're ready. I do think you're going too short the first time since that is well over a foot of hair. Might be a good idea if you just went halfway up your back. How about say, 10 inches or maybe even 8 inches. If you like it then go back in 2 months and get more cut. You should get the ends trimmed every 2 or 3 months anyway.

i dont think it such a good idea to take a big step. if i was you i would cut it to half way up your back and see how you feel. that way it wont be so bad if you dont like it as it wont take to long to grow back. but if you cut it to shoulder length and you dont like it you will be waiting a long time for it to grow back. but if you like it at half way down your back then consider cutting it at shoulder length.

I would not cut it long hair makes you look youger. Maybe you should get long layers for a change so it can pick up curl better but, trust me you will regret cutting it.
