It depends on the guy - some guys suit it and some guys don't. It's very unattractive on older guys - once you start balding, it's time to lose that foul salt-and-pepper coloured ponytail. Shoulder length and well-looked after is nice, if you can pull it off.

Long hair on men is chill as long as its not in a ponytail. I absolutely hate that. Let it hang free. But long mohawks are sexxxxy. The mohawk is only bested by the buzz cut, in my opinion.
