i know i have no pictures but i have long waist-length hair that my mum treasures, and now fringe, so when i put my hair up i look like a total idiot. ive tried finding virtual online stylists but they didnt go right- shall i take a risk of looking worse nad go for a side fringe or leave it as it is?

Go for a side fringe, i did and i love it, it's very versatile and if it gets in your way you can always pin it up. Go girl...get the scissors out (or go to a professional-recommended!)

I was the same as you only my hair was 3/4 of the way down my back and i had a middle shed i then got it cut into a side shed with a fringe shaped round the side of my face and it looks a lot better now

I have had long hair for years - I went for the plunge a couple of years ago and had a fringe cut!! I was really pleased with the result and I can do so much more with my hair now! If you look at my avator picture my hair does look a lot like it does in that!!! Go for it - dont have a really thick fringe cut and then you can add to it or grow it back depending on what you like!

definately go for a side fringe. it will frame your face when you pull you hair back. maybe you could go for a few long layers also

Get a side fringe cut but get it cut light so that if you dont like it it can be easily brushed aside then if you happy with it get it cut thicker thats what i did it just ads an nice shape to your hair i think anyway.

In your case I would start with a very long angel in the front perhaps starting at the shoulder and then working it up as time goes by . The longer the angel the better because you can put it up if you dont like it. But from my experience most of the time when people have never had side bangs or fringes and then they get them they don't know what to do with them and most of the time wind up hating it. Well, you can get a frindge, but it all depends on your face shape.

If you have a ROUND face, dont get a fringe, as round faces need length to make it look less round. It'll look worse

If you have a oval shaped face and a big forehead, go for it!

If you have heart, diamond, you need a fringe,

It depend what shape face you have, if you have a long, square shaped face, a side fringe would look nice, if you have an oval face, get your hair feathered round your face, if you have a round face the get a curved fringe. Why don't you also get some layers put in to make your hair look different.

What i do is look at magasines and find clebrities with the same face shape and see what style they've got.

Alternately have a consultation with your hair stylist.

Hi, up until 3 months ago i was the same, i had long hair which i wore tied up all the time, if i did wear it down i had it in a side shade. I went to hair dresser and explained i wanted it differnet so she cut it in a concave and put in a left side fringe.

I was not so struck on it at first but everyone could not belive how differnt i looked and said it took years off me now i would never go back .....

So i would recommend geting a side fringe and if you dont like it you can alway wear it parted either side.....

But i will never have long hair again coz its the best thing i have ever done.

My advice is to speak to a really good hair dresser who will be able to advise you on what suits your face.... Good luck

you wont no unless you try it, fringes can look really nice on some,and not so nice on others, if you dont like it it wont take long to grow it out and you could always use a clip to keep it out of the way wile its growing back

it's all down to the shape of ur face, if u got oval shape u can get away with any style, if u got a roundish face a side face will make ur face look slimmer, i personally think side fringe is more flattering,
