What should I do with my medium thick long flat hair?

Ok, I have long hair (around 5 inches past my shoulders), its flat, and medium-heavy thickness. It's very boring. It's split right down the center and dark brown (dark brown enough that when I was little someone thougth I had black hair for 4 years). Also I have pale skin but becomes a little more normal in the summer.

I think my face is square but it's partly round too. Like a basic square shape but rounded.

I want a hair that is easy to deal with and doesn't take too long to deal with. I want it to be playful and welcoming but can be made look serious when needed.

Oh and I don't want to loose too much length but I'm ok with a few inches. Another thing is is that my hair is very very lighty wavy down below because of so many elastics.

Hope you guys can help me. I tried to give as much information as i can.

Have you tried getting layers? I have similar hair except it is not completly straight, it has some "kinks"... I have found that using anti frizz cream and a root lifter after shampooing and conditioning with a moisterizing (I use Tresemme products) and then blow drying my hair upside down. I then use a really hot curling iron to curl each of the layers in about 1 in chucnks. Curling under... Give it a try! It gives it some body and some style without a bunch of time or effort.

you can angle it a little around ur face

and u can also part it to the side and get bangs =]]

You should consider long layers to thin it out, and then you can use bobby pins and things like that to hold some of it up.

Keep your length, though!

I just cut mine really short and I hate it! :(

I would layer it put some highlights in it and flip the ends out a little.

you should try a side parting and see if it suits you, if it does consider getting a side fringe which is in at the moment. get an inch or two cut off and some layers put in to frame your face and give your hair more volume.

don't cut your hair, its sounds really pretty! but maybe you should consider getting some bangs and wearing your hair up in a ponytail most of the time, it won't be as frustrating to deal with and people may think you cut it!

You should invest in an excellent haircut with long layers that look good with or without styling. When you have a consult with your stylist, make sure they know that you want something that will look great even if you let it air dry. Some styles are a lot more work than they look like they would be, but your stylist should know what would work with your hair texture without heat applied.

I would also suggest updating your look with a part on the side rather than the center, unless your cut is modern enough to pull off a center part. There are a few that look great with a center part, but in general it just looks a bit dated.

For added fun, you could also get some caramel colored highlights!

I probably wouldn't try bangs if I were you based on your face shape, but you could do a side bang. Those require more maintenence than you may want, but look very nice with most hair styles.

Next time you see someone in a magazine that has a hair cut that you really like, clip it out and ask your stylist if you could have a low maintenence version of it! Also if you see someone in person that has hair you love, don't be shy to ask them where they get it done.

A good cut is the key, an experienced stylist can do wonders when they have untouched hair to work with! It's like a fresh canvas for them!

Sounds like you have nice hair! You are lucky to have long hair - you are able to have many flexible styles with this length, here are some suggestions:

A. Wave your hair. If you can't do this with a curler, then follow Paris Hilton's way - put your hair in two braids, wet it, then let it dry - you will have soft waves as a result.

B. Try this from the salon Frederik Fekkai in Beverly Hills: Take the front strands of your hair (where your bangs would be if you had any) and, using a pin, pin the strands up on your head about three inches from the hairline. Trust me, this can change your look a lot, and it is really simple. If you don't know what I am talking about, look at an episode of Friends - Rachel, Monica and Phoebe have this style a lot.

C. Go to a hairstylist and LAYER YOUR HAIR. Long, layered hair is the most versatile hairstyle on the planet - you can wear it up, with a few strands falling on your face and when you wear it down it will never be limp because it is layered. You can even wear it half up, and it will still be voluminous.

D. If you decide to get the layered cut, which I strongly suggest, then do the frontal hair pin thing with that - you'll have hair like Jennifer Aniston! It really looks nice. And for extra volume, put mousse through hair strands after you take a shower, then blow dry them upside down - Youll see how nice your hair will look. Good Luck!
