Color your hair with a permanent hair color. The shampoo won't kill the eggs too.And if you can't have some one else go through your hair, coloring is the easiest way.

Head lice in long hair?

Hedrin is good. You need to apply it twice 7 days apart as eggs may hatch in that period.

Also apply Conditioner to your hair as they can't then get a grip. Use a very fine tooth comb.

Head lice in long hair?

I had that and i have long hair but i got it out. I went to the doctor for a treatment and they helped me get rid of it. I feel a ton better now that it is gone! Lice stinks but it is pretty easy top get out of hair once you find it.

The best stuff to use is a prescription from your doctor. There's still no guarantee that you won't have to cut your hair. Try to find someone to help you with this "project" to make sure you get everything out. Good luck to you.

mayonaise, plaster your head cover all night tomorrow comb and rinse, cant breathe through the oil

i do not know who gave me thumbs down, i have fuive kids trust me been there done that , i have tried everything including prescription stuff, mayo works the best it killsthe bugs and when you comb it the nits slide out, one treatment and done with rid and prescripton we are talking 2 to 3 times to get out of long hair....if you do not believe me look up home remedies for head lice and mayo will be all over the palce

Head lice in long hair?

well I hear it is better if you cut you hair short, easier to manage the nits and eggs and get them out of you hair. But RID is the best thing out there to get rid of them.....good luck

Get RID. Buy the 8 ounce package at the pharmacy. The smaller package is only enough to treat once and it is likely that you'll have to use it more than once or that you may have to offer it to a family member.

Getting rid of lice is hard. You have to treat your house and belongings within the same day. If you are hanging around the same lice infested person or place you will catch it again. Also, you may not get all of the eggs the first time around.

1. Vaccuum the heck out of everything! Dispose of the bag outside.

2. Hot wash and hot dry all of your bedding and pillows.

3. Bag up all of your stuffed animals and any other plushy stuff that won't tolerate a hot wash and hot dry without being ruined. Store them away as airtight as possible for 4 weeks.

4. Spray items that you can't wash, vacuum the crap out of, or quarantine in a bag with RID spray.

5. Treat yourself. Use RID or similar product and pay special attention to combing out the nits. There are natural lice removing products that do a great job of loosening the nits that can be used in conjunction with the poison. This isn't great for you or your hair, so make sure you follow the rest of the steps to minimize the risk of having to re-apply. Combing out nits is really best with help, so if you have a loved one who will "nit-pick" with you, that would be great.

6. Continue to vaccuum the crap out your house for a couple of weeks. If in 10-14 days you are seeing more nits or even possible live lice again.....REPEAT steps 1-6.

It's possible to kick this and you have no reason to cut your hair. The hardest part isn't the hair, it's the cleaning. Write down what day you treated yourself and your house on the calender and stay diligent for the next month. Feel no guilt checking the heads of children who come to visit. You're only doing their parents a favor and may find the source of infestation.

Oh heck tatty....I know that you can definitely buy a once only cure for lice...I don't know the name though.

I have never had lice and they say it's because we black people put oils into our hair. Use more grease to prevent it in future...lol
